Usage Intelligence's App Overlap gives you insight into what apps people are using in conjunction with other apps. App Overlap uses the Increased Chance of Use metric, which shows how much more likely this app is to be used by these users.
App Overlap gives you an understanding into both:
- Other apps whose users are more likely to use your app.
- Your own app and which apps your users are more likely to use.
The Other App section shows Apps whose Users are more likely to use the selected app. In the example below, Pirate Kings Users have a 7.11%% increased chance of using Coin Master than someone who doesn't use Pirate Kings.
The My App section of App Overlap shows Apps that the Users are more likely to use than the typical user. In the example below, Coin Master users have a 6.59% increased chance of using YouTube than a user who doesn't use Coin Master.
Additional App Overlap Filters
With both the My App and Other App sections you may also select options to look at larger overlap periods or have the option to filter the results further by either country distribution or by the size of app which can help narrow down your views to see what types of apps are commonly used together.
App Overlap Period:
An overlap period is the time period in which both of these apps were used together. In our above example of Coin Master and Pirate Kings, we are looking at a Day 1 Overlap period. The App Overlap period is only captured when both Coin Master and Pirate Kings are being used on the same day on the same device.
- 1 Day Overlap period: The two apps were both used on the same device on the same day.
- 7-Day Overlap period: The two apps were both used on the same device within a 7-day period.
- 30-Day Overlap period: The two apps were both used on the same device within a 30-day period.
- All-Time Overlap period: The two apps have both been used on the same device.
Match by Country Distribution:
Match by Country Distribution allows for further filtering based on where these apps acquire the majority of their downloads.
If an app acquires most of their downloads from the US and the Match by Country Distribution is set to Strong the results will focus on apps that also acquire most of their downloads from the US and the app's other top countries. It will filter out apps that get the majority of their downloads from outside of those top countries.
A Weak setting will not filter out apps based on where they get the majority of their downloads and show a more worldwide selection of apps.
Filter Off Small Apps:
Filter Off Small Apps is a feature that allows you to remove smaller-sized apps from the results. We define Small Apps in this instance by their Worldwide All-Time Downloads. This filter will remove smaller apps based on the downloads across all of the apps in the results. The stronger the filter, the more apps get removed and only the largest apps from the results are left in the results.
(Please note this will not change the 'Increased Chance of Use' metric and will only filter the results down.)
